While Emt-B is Concerned Mainly with Basic Life Support (Bls) Knowledge and Skills, Emt-P Practices Advanced Life Support (Als).

• This Class Granted Eligibility to Sit for the State Licensing Exam to Become A Licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (Emt-B), Licensure by the Illinois Department of Public Health (Idph). Emt-B Focuses on the Foundation of Basic Emergency Life Support Skills, Including the Proper Administration of and Assistance for Patients with Certain Medications (Most Importantly Oxygen), Splinting, Wound Care, Suctioning, Patient Movement, Extrication, Cpr/Aed, and Other Areas of Pre-Hospital Knowledge and Practice. Though Emt-B does not Handle Emergency Calls on A Regular Basis, the Emt-B must be Prepared for Such and be Able to Treat Patients in A Timely and Professional Manner. Many of the Patients an Emt-B will Treat will have Long-Term Medical Conditions and Special Considerations. Inter-Facility Patient Transports, Discharges to Home, Transport to Healthcare Appointments, and Dialysis Transports are the Typical Calls for an Emt-B.
