• When i Started Out at Orange Coast College, i Originally Intended to Obtain A BS Degree in Electronics Engineering, SO i Took A Lot of Courses in Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, History, Economics, Etc. However, i Came to Realize That i would Probably Never have the Requisite Time, Money, and Energy to Get Into A 4-Year College or University and Obtain A BS Degree. SO i Switched Majors from &Quot;Engineering&Quot; to &Quot;Electronics Technology&Quot;, Thus Electing to Obtain an AA (2-Year) Degree in A Field with Immediate Job Potential. i Completed MY AA Degree in Electronics Technology in 1986. (Most of MY Computer Programming Skills, However, are Self-Taught, Through Both Study and Practice, Rather Than Learned from College Classes. See &Quot;School of Self Education&Quot; Below for More on This.)
• Most of MY Knowledge Throughout MY Life has Been Generated Through Self-Education, Including Both Home Study and Practice and On-The-Job Learning. For Example, as A Child, i Taught Myself About Electronics by Reading Electronics Books and Building Kits from MY Local Electronics Shop. Later, This Body of Knowledge and Skills Helped ME Both in College and On-The-Job as an Electronics Technician. For Further Example, in 2000-2003 i Taught Myself How to Program Computers in C and C++ and How to Use the C++ Standard Template Library (Containers, Iterators, Algorithms) by Creating Utility Programs at Home. i Then Took This Knowledge to Work, and Taught MY Coworkers How to Use These Techniques to Solve Problems in MY Company'S Software. So While i have Orange Coast College Listed as MY #1 &Quot;Education&Quot; on Linked-In, in Actuality I'M More Self-Taught Than School-Taught.
