This Paper Focused on the Use of Written English Language by the Artists in A Sample of Plains Indian Drawings from Fort Marion (Castillio DE San Marcos) A 17th Century Spanish Fort Located in St. Augustine Florida. the Drawings were Created Between 1875-1878 by A Number of Native American Prisoners Held at the Fort by the United States Government. Using Ideas of Power and Economic Exchange i Examined the Use of Written English as A Form of Reversal in Which the Artists Took Back the Power They had Lost as Prisoners Allowing Them to Mold the Perception Others had of Them Ensuring Their Eventual Release.
