• Activities and Societies: i Worked A Full Time Job in the Caldwell County Public Library Reference Department and Took Classes at Night an on Saturdays for Three Years to Get MY Degree.Graduated in 2002 with an Mls in Library Science.
• i Transferred to Western Carolina University After Graduating from Caldwell Community College in 1980 with an A.A. Degree in Library Arts. i Attended Caldwell from 1977-1980 Part-Time While Working A Second Shift Job in A Factory for Three Years. i Used the Money i had Saved from Working to Transfer and Attend Western. Unfortunately at That Time the N.C. Community Colleges were on A Quarter System and not A Semester System Like Western SO When i Transferred i Lost Credit Hours. i Also Ran Out of Money and had to Come Back Home and Work A Couple of Semesters to Get Money to Finish Up. i Actually Took MY Last Class at Appalachian State University in Boone and Transferred it Back to Western i Took it One Summer While Working at the Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock. not the Quickest or Best Way to GO to College, but i Came Out with no Student Loans.
• Upon Graduating from High School at Gamewell-Collettsville High School i Received A Small $300.00 Grant to Further MY Education if i SO Chose. i Attended Caldwell Community College After High School for Three Years Part-Time While Working A Second Shift Job in Furniture and Paper Factories in Lenoir. i was Saving Money to Transfer to A University. All i did for Three Years was Work, GO to Class, Study and do Homework. no One in MY Family had Ever Been to College Before and it was the Only Way i could Afford to Go. A Few Years Ago MY Nephew Jacob Followed the Same Plan Graduating from Caldwell and Then Asu in Boone with A Degree in History. HE Now Teaches History at Watauga High School.
• Activities and Societies: Just High School Stuff.I Graduated as Part of the Last Graduating Class from Gamewell-Collettsville High School Which was Closed After MY Class Graduated and was Consolidated with Lenoir High School to Create West Caldwell High School. the Class of 77 was A Special One.
