• Activities and Societies: Professional Development Chair-Umass Student Chapter of Association of Women in Mathematics (Awm) Member-Graduate Researchers Interested in Data (Grid)My Program is A Class Based Program with A Yearly Research Seminar That Produces A Student Driven Group Research Project. First Year Project: &Quot;Non-Transitive Systems in Grasslands&Quot; Non-Transitive Systems or Rock-Paper-Scissors Models are Found in Many Fields of Study, Including Ecology, and A Key Question is Always Whether or not Coexistence is Possible. There is an Rps System Found in the Prairie, Where Grasses Out-Compete Forbs Which Out-Compete Parasites Which Kill the Grasses. WE Investigate and Develop Ways to Model This System Accurately on A Spatial Level, Via A Deterministic Partial Differential Equation, and A Stochastic Lattice Model. WE Use the Lattice Model to Show That the Geometry of Human Encroachment on the Prairie can have A Substantial Impact on the Probability of Species Die-Off. Second Year Project: This Years Project is Still in the Very Early Development Stages, but WE are Looking Into Modeling Cancer Tumor Growth.

Projects: &Quot;An Analysis of Numerical Methods on Traffic Flow Models&Quot; For MY Honors Thesis, i Explored the Basic Numerical Methods of Runge-Kutta and Euler'S Method Focusing on How Initial and Boundary Conditions were Presented in Traffic Flow Literature with MY Mentor Dr. Laura Gross. Using Matlab, i Created Simulations of Traffic Events. Http://Vc.Bridgew.Edu/Honors_proj/105/ &Quot;Application of Frame Theory to Signal Processing&Quot; My Mentor Dr. Vignon Oussa and i Used Frame Theory to Encode Signals That were Robust UP to 50% Erasures. Using Mathematica, i Created an Efficient Simulation That Encodes the Signal, Then Deletes A Random Half of the Encoded Message, and Decodes the Defective Message with Perfect Accuracy.
