Specifically, i am Using Germ-Free Mice and Toll-Like Receptor 5 Knockout Mice as Models to Investigate How the Lack of A Microbiome Affects the Brain, and How Chronic Low-Grade Inflammation can Affect Behavior.

I Worked with Dr. James Angstadt Investigating the Effects of Riluzole on Persistent Sodium Currents in the Medicinal Leech. i Learned the Basic Principles of Voltage-Gate Electrophysiology on Specific Cells in Leech Ganglion. Results of This Work were Presented by Dr. Angstadt at Society for Neuroscience in 2011. I Also Assisted Dr. Stephen Gavlik in His Work Looking at How Cortisol may be Affecting Fresh Water Leech Sexual Differentiation, Where i Learned How to Run Elisas.
