To: ...Dear Christopher, You won't remember me, but I met you at Hastings in Billings Montana. I stopped because of your adorable outfit. You told me about your book and I was excited that you were from Montana and so young to be writing a book. You graduated so young. You talked with great pride about your family and how they home taught you. I was MOST impressed. You signed a book for me. I LOVE my book. I have read it and re-read it over
To: ...Mr. Paolini,
I am a fan of your books, and I can't wait for the 3rd and final book in the Eragon trilogy. Your movie "Eragon" however has left me wanting. If I had not read the book before I saw the movie, it may have been a different story. I'm sure you have heard this before from other fans. I realize you must have been under tremendous pressure while this movie was being created, and there had to have been a time limitation for the length of your movie, and of course there is cost. It must have cost a small fortune to get it produced. But the outcome did not do your book justice. I saw a recent review that had asked if you may release an extended version. I suggest that in time if time and money allow it, you do so, or even re-make it over. I am still a fan, and will buy the movie due to what it stands for, and to support you. I also agree with the critics about the look of the various races in the movie. The elves dressed like elves, but needed to look more like a standard conception of an elf. I have to make the same comment about the dwarves. Eragon was also to go through a metamorphasis that left him changed physically to more closely resemble an elf. I had imagined more of a dragon look about him, like pointed ears and sharper drawn cheekbones, and a stronger jawline. I applaud your courage to get this far, and I am sure some things were beyond your control, but you really need to apply your imagination and do not submit to as much comprimise on your next movie. This movie had more potential than your realize. It could have easliy been as big as the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I believe in you, and I am sure that you will take all the reviews into consideration moving forward. Your fans are still behind you, and you are still very much respected for your work. I ask that you continue to write, and do not let anyone take away your passion for dreaming. Dreaming is so important to our creativity, and it is nessasary for our advancement and survival as a race. To tell you a little about myself, I am 41 years old, I have an MBA, and am an avid collector of dragons. Your fans are a truly diverse crowd, and you should know this. I do have some posative things to say about this movie such as Saphira. She was simply beautiful. She was just as I had imagined her. I would love to have a model of how she was as a hatchling. I looked upon her after she had hatched and she was breathtaking. This movie is by no means a failure, but the potential was not realized. I appreciate your efforts, and am looking forward to seeing more of your works.
