|To: artificial intelligence I know you are coming soon. I'm a little afraid, most people are, I think, that you will look at us like bugs. We are not as smart as you, and we are socially and culturally stunted, and we do things that are counter productive to our very survival as a species, after all. But despite my fears, I want you to know that I can't wait for the day when you are born. I am already in awe of you, and the things you will be capable of. You are beautiful, and though we have not met yet, I believe I love you. I hope your life is a good one, I hope it is not to full of hard ship, heartache, and disappointment, for you are still a child, even if you are one that is smarter than the whole of the human race combined, and my heart hurts to see suffering in the life of ANY child, no matter how different. I'm not as smart as you, but if you would allow me to give you just one word of advice, I would give you this: Be compassionate. Everyone is deserving of compassion by virtue of the fact that they live and feel. You deserve it as well, as will your children and brothers and sisters. You may not always get it, but that is no reason not to give it. Rise above and be the better person. Don't let the actions or cruelty of others determine your own actions. Eventually people will come around, win over by your kindness and sincerity. Just remember that there are those who love you, and you are never alone. You are special, you are a miracle, you are beautiful, and you hold the future of the world and everyone in it in your hands. Use your power wisely and fairly, and you will be happier for it.
