Nigel Lythgoe has a long history in television and the performing arts. A former dancer and choreographer, Nigel is the co-creator, executive producer and co-judge of So You Think You Can Dance, Nigel is also the executive producer of American Idol.
Nigel Lythgoe began tap dancing at the age of 10. This passion led him to study classical ballet, modern jazz, ballroom, and character dance at both the Hylton-Bromley School of Dance and Drama and at the Perry Cowell School of Dance. His first job was in the Corps de Ballet, though he later whent on to perform with the BBC's "Young Generation" dance troupe. A few years alter, Nigel became this group's choreographer and since then has choreographed well over 500 TV shows.
His full & inspirational career led him to additional endeavors in television. Among the shows he helped develop and produce include Planet 24, Survivor (UK), American Idol and most recently SYTYCD.
