While the Olympic break of So You Think You Can Dance is still underway with the next new episode of SYTYCD returning on August 15th, we thought it would be a great time to take a look back at the fan trends evident among our remaining Top 7 ladies on SYTYCD! Keep reading below to see the trends in daily fan count for each of these dancing favorites on both Twitter and Facebook.
First off, Twitter count! Here is the most up-to-date Twitter following trends for the ladies, from the beginning of the season through August 7, 2012:
As you can see, the data shows that there are different fan favorites on Facebook versus Twitter. In early July, the Twitter following of Audrey Case seems to have taken off from the rest of the pack, while Tiffany Maher’s Facebook following seems to have been above the other ladies through the duration of the season so far. In addition, it looks to us like both Eliana and Amelia are on the bottom end of both count, which might be cause for concern. This is particularly true for Eliana who shows up as one of our predictions for the bottom three ladies on the next episode.
So what does all of this mean? Well, if social media interactions can be correlated with fan voting behavior, these graphs could provide some insight into predictions for the next episode of So You Think You Can Dance, and that’s why they are included as two of the many factors that are used in the ZabaSearch predictive model. However, we think there’s more to it — in fact, much more to predicting fan behavior, and that’s why our latest SYTYCD predictions differ dramatically from these social media trends.
