After a night of great singing from Demi Lovato and Chris Daughtry, America voted and sent 6′ tall, off-key beauty Shannon Magrane home to Florida. Narrowly missing the cut for the American Idol summer tour, largely due to two straight weeks of biting-off-more-than-she-could-chew, Shannon’s back-to-back renditions of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey classics simply just did her in.
Earlier in the evening, sitting beside Shannon in the bottom three were Elise Testone and EVP (Erika Van Pelt). With Elise’s comeback performance of “Let’s Stay Together,” Idol results showed that America does not vote solely on the current week’s performance, but overall popularity plays a part as well. At last count, in the ZabaSearch American Idol Social Media Scorecard, Elise was in the bottom three for fan count alongside Shannon Magrane, but a weaker performance by EVP and a killer performance by Joshua Ledet created a stir in the bottom three if you look at scorecard results. Likewise, irresistible Heejun Han who took on the Richard Marks ballad “Right Here Waiting” left us waiting for something more, but finished in the safe zone, the current leader on the ZabaSearch Social Media Scorecard.
